Rose Read is one of Australia's most recognised specialists on the policy and practice of product stewardship and has been at the helm of a some of Australia's highest profile recycling and product stewardship initiatives.
While leading the 'MobileMuster' at the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association, she achieved voluntary accreditation of the program under the Commonwealth Product Stewardship Act 2011. Prior to this, Rose was General Manager of Clean Up Australia, one of Australia's early not-for-profits that focussed on engaging the community to deal with waste.
As inaugural chief executive officer of MRI PSO Pty Ltd, Rose leads an organisation that administers a coregulatory arrangement for the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme.
Rose supports a strong collaborative approach to implementing product stewardship initiatives through multi-stakeholder participation and tested partnership models.
At Powering the change, Rose will draw on her experience to be joint moderator of the session 'Catching up to demand: accelerating circular solutions for electronics', and will share details of Fairphone, the world's first modular smart phone, with its focus on a fair supply chain, coming out of the Netherlands.
