It's easy to get to Tonsley, and Adelaide. Here's what you need to know.


Most of our conference attendees will be staying in the Adelaide city centre. The conference is a short trip from town by metro, bus and taxi. Our conference dinner will be held in the city, so that's another reason to stay nearby.

 

BY AIR TO ADELAIDE

Adelaide is easily accessible from all Australian airports and international gateways. The flight to Adelaide from Melbourne is less than 1 hour and just 1 hour, 40 minutes from Sydney.

FROM THE AIRPORT TO YOUR HOTEL

A taxi will cost you about $20-30 from the airport to the city centre.

You can also catch the JetExpress bus between 5am and 10am and again from 4pm to 9pm on weekdays. The service picks up and drops off passengers on Grote Street, Pultney Street and North Terrace to cater for the major hotels in the city centre.

mycar offer airport transfers in their hybrid and Tesla fleet. They will not only provide you a 5% discount for your transfers to and from the airport and/or Tonsley, but they will also facilitate car sharing between conference delegates. Just say you are with Powering the change and whether you would like to car pool. The shared cost for a hybrid transfer to the city centre is estimated at $49.50, and for a Tesla $77.00.

TRAVEL TO TONSLEY

Whether you go by train, bus or car, the trip to Tonsley from the city centre takes about 20 minutes.

Trains run every half hour from Adelaide Railway Station straight to Tonsley Innovation District. Adelaide Railway Station is on North Terrace in the city centre.

Take the Tonsley line and make sure you get off at Clovelly Park station (not Tonsley station). The District is a short walk from the station, and we'll have volunteers to show you the way. Download timetables and maps from the Adelaide Metro website.  A metroCARD visitor pass will give you unlimited travel on Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams for 3 days for $26.60, and can be purchased from the main Adelaide Railway Station.

Taxis from the CBD to Tonsley can be hailed from your hotel or from taxi ranks around town. Fares to Tonsley are approximately $25-30 one way. Ask for Tonsley Innovation District (in Clovelly Park) and be dropped off at the Flinders University building.

UBER also operates in Adelaide - use their mobile app to request a ride.

Buses run to Tonsley from the CBD near Victoria Square. Bus fares will be the same as those listed above for the train, and also require a Metrocard or Metroticket. Take the 721 or 719 from Grote St, near Victoria Square. Visit the Adelaide Metro website for timetables for route 719 and route 721. Buy your ticket in advance from a convenience store or get a single trip from the bus driver. A three-day metroCARD visitor pass can be purchased for $26.60 from the Adelaide Railway Station and selected outlets.
