Sheffield Hallam University (UNITED KINGDOM)
Jackie Leaver is a senior lecturer and researcher working within the Sheffield Institute of Arts (SIA) and Art and Design Research Centre (ADRC) at Sheffield Hallam University.
She teaches across the BA (Hons) Product Design and Product Design: Furniture course and the MA/MFA in Design.
Jackie is interested in the future of domestic living and has a current focus of how practices of care and maintenance might be used to extend the life of particular objects and domestic spaces. Narrative - enabling people to tell their own story in their own way - is a common thread throughout her projects extending to the stories of places and things, as well as people.
Her recent project considers whether consumers might be encouraged to ‘care’ by reengaging in the once popular pastime of DIY home maintenance.
Jackie Leaver will be speaking at the session And what if we just looked after things? Caring as a circular strategy.
