Stuart Ferguson, Head of Investment at the London Waste and Recycling Board, is responsible for designing and implementing London’s circular economy investment strategy, incorporating their Advance London business support and investment program and 'Circular Economy Route Map'.  

London is leading the world working with higher education, business, and finance, and leveraging government purchasing power to implement circular economy approaches across the capital. It is estimated that the actions scoped in their recently launched 'Circular Economy Route Map' will contribute £2.8bn to the economy.

Prior to joining the London Waste and Recycling Board, Stuart was Head of Fund Investment at Big Issue Invest, the UK's first 'social merchant bank', providing funds, products and programs to social enterprises, charities and profit-with-purpose businesses.  

Stuart brings significant experience working with businesses across the investment life cycle and has held board positions across several sectors. His background in the finance industry includes managing significant equity investments across a wide range of sectors at Lloyds Banking Group, and leveraged finance for private equity clients at the Bank of Scotland.

At Powering the change, Stuart will discuss the challenges and opportunities of developing and implementing a system-wide strategy for London. He will share how London is both supporting startups get to market, and helping traditional SMEs pivot, using circular approaches.
